In May 1987, 29 years ago, the 1000th Routemaster bus to hit the streets of London was handed over to its new owners for preservation.

It was the beginning of the end for the original Routemaster as the famous buses were slowly replaced.

London has lost a real icon.

The Routemaster has to be one of the most recognisable London sights, along with the red phone box and black cab.

Speaking of famous London icons, the Queen’s soon to turn 90 years old.

In honour of Her Majesty’s Queen Elizabeth’s 90th Birthday; to celebrate villages, towns and cities are organising parties galore to join in the festivities.

Pack chairs, tables, picnic blankets, flags, great food and wine and attend tea in the park or the local Proms, with all your family and friends.

Think of the joy and fun on everyone’s faces when they have a good old sing song, great food, wine and company. And best of all they will be travelling on the famous 60 year old Routemaster.
